Its a good pan. It holds heat. It works on the stovetop or in the oven. It has that great ingenious lid that traps and then distributes moisture. Is a good size. What I question is this Staub x Smitten Kitchen Braiser just the same as a Staub Christera Braiser? I ordered a Staub Smitten Kitchen Braiser and I received a Staub Christera Braiser. The box and the paperwork confirm this. The Staub Christera Braiser is available for less. It is impossible to see any involvement at all by Smitten Kitchen. One star has been removed for the lack of transparency.

This braiser will replace my 12 inch cast iron pan and a couple of other pans because it is so easy to clean and I love the small side handles and the taller sides.

It’s gorgeous, hefty, heats evenly and is easy to clean. The silicone utensils I purchased are marvelous as well!

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I love it, but its a bit of a learning curve if you are not used to it. Coincidentally, as if in a nod to it's french origins it got christened with a Coq Au Vin. It was prepared on a gas stove and it performed beautifully. The chicken seared and released like a dream, noting stuck, and it was easy to clean afterwards. My second experience on a glass cooktop was while not a disaster, definitely not a smooth one. Bacon stuck, chicken stuck, and while it all deglazed later there was none of that nice crispy seared chicken skin. While I did follow the heat slowly instructions.. I increased the heat from low to medium-low. This (after some research) taught me to keep the burner on the lowest setting. The braiser is back to performing beautifully. So for anyone whose initial experience was not smooth sailing, learn your pot, and your stove and you will enjoy using this braiser.
