We removed the carpet from our stairs and ordered hardwood that matched our other floors to be installed on the 40” wide treads. We did not want to paint the risers because we were concerned paint would chip and not stand up. We found this Lucida MaxCore (piano white) luxury vinyl plank on Wayfair. Each plank was 7.25” high and fit in the riser perfectly. The installer only needed to cut off 8” at one end for the proper length for each tread. He added some glue to the backing. The plank is a flat white and looks so much better than a painted riser would have. Any scuff marks wipe off easily with a damp cloth. Very durable and looks fabulous.. Valerie. These look amazing in our laundry room and bathroom that we used them for our basement BUT buyer beware… don’t even bother putting these down without at least few tubes of a strong glue like PL. I did the laundry room first following instructions and 60-80 of the tiles are lifting in one way or another. In out bathroom we PL’d every tile and it looks perfect. You can see in other reviews about lifting, so it’s obviously a known issue. Just use the extra glue and save yourself the headache I’m having, having to go and lift up all the loose edges and stick down. Otherwise the tiles are nice and look great style wise.. With a wood texture, it is waterproof, anti-stain, lightweight, and easy to apply. You don't need to be professional, saving your time and budget. They are sticky, but for the edge, you can use some contact glue on the underlayer to enhance it. Besides flooring, it can be applied to the wall as an accent wall, ceiling, or cabinet by adding extra glue (liquid nail/contact glue).
