The shelves arrived fast but they look like they were just stained as you can tell by the texture and smell of the wood. We have to secure 2 screws in each side of the shelf as it is was not properly bolted in (which is fine and easy). I ordered the largest size, grey and it looks perfect. There are certain glasses that won't fit on the inserts ( see photo). Shelves are made of hardwood. Overall I am happy and will keep it as it matches my cabinet and table. Very heavy and well made. Like most of the other reviews we too found the stain had a verity strong odor but after a few days it’s dissipated. While it comes with pre drilled holes for the screws we ended up adding a few more so that we could drill into the studs to make it a bit more secure. Love the look.
