First off, the colour. These are listed as white, but they're a very warm white, bordering on cream or bone. As a consequence I can't use them with certain linens, and I have to be careful with what other pieces & accessories are on display in my dining room, otherwise this set comes off as looking dingy. I happen to have Benjamin Moore paint chips on hand, so am showing 3 whites on the plate. My walls are White Down, so instead of my plates matching my trim (Chantilly Lace), they're closer to my wall colour. Snowfall White (centre) is a warmer white, but still much whiter than the dishes. I'm showing these in case a buyer wants to pick up some paint chips or look at these colours online to make an informed decision. The salad plates have a decent diameter in the description, but the border is so wide that the actual food portion of the plate is quite small. Saucers are large compared to the cups, perhaps again due to the overly wide border or just the intended design; nice for placing a biscotti or biscuit, though. Other reviews say the pattern imprint is not as deep or sharp as past pieces. I can't speak to that as I don't have older ones to compare with, but if the detail has a slightly softer feel & appearance, I don't mind it. I'm going to make them work as it would too expensive to return them, and I do love the pattern and expect they'll grow on me, but had I seen them in a store, I would likely have passed.. Margaret.
