We wanted a low profile light in a side door landing that also goes to the basement. This light is 8.5" in diameter. And the case and mounting bar are metal.
I noticed a little scratch on the light so i positioned so you don't see it. I suspect it was how it was packaged for shipping. the light was in a box and in a clear plastic bag. The mounting bracket was tossed in the box too, but everything was loose. So it could have happened during shipping. They could have put the mounting bracket in the box such that it wouldn't jostle in the box during transit. The other thing was the cover for the driver, wasn't around the driver. I thought that it was odd this housing was loose in the box. It was like a step in the assembly was missed.

The wires for the light are quite thin gauge, so make sure you have the right sized connectors to connect everything otherwise the wires easily pull out.
It was quite easy to mount. requires 1 philips screwdriver a drill to drill a hole for the anchor and 3 small wire connectors. I did need to strip the wires a bit before connecting.
It's a simple clean and sleek look which is what we were after. The case is metal so it feels solid. We do wish it came in a 14" size. The 8.5" is fine, but we think a larger diameter would have looked more substantial. The larger diameter lights we saw in this style all were Warm White light and we wanted the Cool white light.
