The mantle is made of solid wood and is very sturdy. Installation was easy and took about 30 minutes. The screws/plugs needed for the install were included along with a tiny level. We didn't use any plugs, rather we screwed into the studs. I'm happy with the mantle except for the colour. We chose antique white. Online it looks like winter-white/off-white/antique-white, but it's actually very bright white. For this I took one star off. I'll have to find the best way to tone the bright white down a bit.
