This couch is awesome. I know it's a little pricey, but when you consider that a couch anywhere else with this kind of depth would go for more than double, this is a great deal. (Believe me, I looked everywhere for deep couches before finding this one). This is also the first couch I've ever bought online, so it was a real leap of faith, but I'm so happy I did.
The fabric is sort of between a velvet and a tweed. Not overly soft, but not overly textured either. It has a little bit of a sheen to it, but not enough to let that scare you off (I was originally looking for a linen grey textured tweed couch, ie definitely not shiney, but I am very happy with this). It also has a little bit of color variation from the texture, which I think makes the fabric that much more forgiving. It doesn't have a directional nap either, so no weird prints that need to be constantly smoothed back down. It also feels thick and durable enough to last. I love the charcoal colour too.
It comes with six 26"x26" throw pillows, and two smaller ones. These pillows are finished rather poorly, just stitched across one end leaving a line of excess fabric. Not really a big deal though. The main seat, side, and back pillows are all removable and have zippers on them. So, easy cleaning, and you can switch the places of the pillows around or flip them, so you won't just have one sunken corner pillow where you always sit, you can keep them fresh and fluffed.
The couch is a little on the firm side, not enough to make it uncomfortable though, and I'm sure it'll soften with time. I got a little stiff after lying on it for a few days straight (more couch time than I'd recommended in general), so I cut and inserted a memory foam mattress topper into the seat covers, above the existing seat pillow forms. Totally unnecessary, but it's literally as good as a bed now. I also easily unstitched the throw pillows and inserted feather pillows, then restitched with a blind running stitch. Also totally unnecessary, I just prefer feather pillows over the filler material (which I used for snow around my Christmas tree).
Overall, this couch really is excellent just the way it comes - comfortable, stylish, and sure to impress. No one I know has ever seen a couch like this. Seriously, I'm so happy I found it. It's pretty much my home now.. Julia. Vancouver, BC. 2017-12-29 09:37:48
