I was pleasantly surprised with how well this rug pulled my room together. The color description was a little misleading. The background is mostly a cream color with beige highlights. The grey is less prominate and shows up in areas of the abstract striping. The other colors include red, gold, black and touches of brown. This is a really beautiful wool rug that is currently selling for almost three times as much under another brand. It is all that I hoped for. I know it is hard shopping for neutral colored rugs online, so I included a photo with a neutral undertone wheel in natural light for reference. The recessed parts of the rug have a slight green-beige cast, and the raised parts are a very light taupey cream variegated with a pink beige that looks like a light tint of a maroon brown in the darkest parts. I think it coordinates well with natural linen color and unbleached cotton as well as cool sandy tans or mocha and cocoa colored neutrals. It might look dirty next to yellowy creams or light tints of cool blue grays. I included a photo with a natural straw mat and a bamboo box to show how it would look next to light wood with a more yellow cast. I purchased the Autumnal Tide canvas by Nan for my office after searching through thousands of art pieces. This one stood out as both soothing and bold, with surprisingly rich colors. I had originally considered a similar piece that was four times the price, but I couldn’t justify the cost—this one was the perfect value. The main difference was that the pricier version was square, while this one is a rectangle. I bought the 38x48 size, and it makes a great statement, easily filling up a wall. This rug is great for what we needed. We were looking for something with a decent pile but not shag. We didn't want to spend a fortune but also didn't want a cheap rug. The rug does feel cushion-ey under the feet, but we do also have a rug pad under it. I wouldn't say the material feels super soft and luxurious to touch, but it feels soft enough and comfortable enough for bare feet, or sitting on it. The rug arrived folded, in a box, and we were concerned about creasing but we rolled it up for one night, then placed it under the bed and we don't notice any creasing and the corners lay flat. It vacuums nicely and doesn't leave any vacuum lines. It's a little more black/white than we expected, and there is a touch of brown in it. The attached pic was taken on a mostly sunny day in a room with natural light, we have lots of grays and gray adjacent hues in the room, and our brown brindle dog for reference to how subtle the brown in the carpet is.
